The Paul Sauer cellar / function venue faces the Simonsberg and comprises indoor seating and a thatched outdoor area. This is where Kanonkop’s famous lunch and dining experience is presented: the traditional snoek braai (barbeque), which has been a part of local food culture for centuries.

Our snoek braai is hosted by the Krige brothers themselves, together with their wives Marie and Ilse who prepare the sumptuous feast:

Caramelised sweet potatoes, known as soetpatats, is a perfect partner to the salty fish. There’s also freshly baked bread, a selection of homemade preserves, cheeses and a green salad. For dessert there is the crunch of a syrupy koeksister, one of the most enjoyable traditional desserts of the Cape.

** Please note that the snoek braai is subject to the availability of the owners and their wives, and is strictly based on a minimum booking requirement of 20 people. We do not operate a restaurant, and we do not cater for walk-ins.
