The Paul Sauer Cellar, Kanonkop’s dedicated function venue, offers both indoor and outdoor spaces where guests can enjoy Kanonkop’s history and explore the estate’s vintage cellar. It is here that Kanonkop’s renowned lunch and dining experiences are enjoyed.

The traditional snoek braai (fish barbecue) has been part of local food culture for centuries and holds a special place in Kanonkop’s history. This authentic experience is hosted by the Krige family themselves, who personally prepare and present the feast.

Guests can enjoy an optional cheese platter as a starter. The main menu includes caramelised sweet potatoes, known as soetpatats, which pair perfectly with the salty richness of the snoek served as the main course. Freshly baked bread is served alongside homemade grape jam, and a fresh salad. To finish, guests enjoy the satisfying crunch of a syrup-soaked koeksister, one of the Cape’s most beloved traditional desserts.

Please note: The snoek braai is subject to the availability of the Krige family and is offered strictly on a minimum booking requirement of 20 guests. Kanonkop does not operate a restaurant and does not cater for walk-ins. The venue and food is family-styled and is an ideal setting for informal functions like end-of-year functions, birthdays, friendly get-togethers and special events.
