VITICULTURE
The concept of terroir, which is widely seen as an integral part of viticulture, can be described as the influences of the soil, climate and topography on a vine, vineyard or region that determine the character of the wine made there.
Most textbook definitions will however neglect to mention the influence human interaction has on the vines – how the vines are pruned, harvested and worked over generations.
